Mini continues testing his Countryman WRC

Within two weeks we will be talking here about the debut and the results of the Mini Countryman WRC in the Rally of Sardinia. Until then the team continues to make numerous tests to try to refine the details before the expected time. To this end have been test with its two official drivers, Kris Meeke and Dani Sordo, in Girona.
The Catalan land resembles lot to which the participants can be found in the Italian sections. In the latter tests the guys from Prodrive have tested with the final engine and it seems that after the work of implementation of Dani in the morning, the car had acceptable performance during the afternoon, when the Northern Ireland Meeke has been mounted in it.

Marcus Ericsson, the faster the second and final day of testing at Silverstone GP2

Marcus Ericsson has been the fastest of the second and final day of testing at Silverstone GP2. The Swedish driver, who has been showing his talent during preseason testing, has been barely a tenth faster than Christian Vietoris, the fastest in the morning.
The German, teammate of Dani Clos, has been three tenths faster than the Catalan, and says that never has felt so prepared before a championship as he is now. Behind the duo of head, Jules Bianchi, Dani Clos, Charles Pic and Romain Grosjean form the pursuer group.
Special mention for Esteban Gutierrez, fast enough in the afternoon session, with a remarkable seventh place. It will be interesting to see how it evolves the pilot of Lotus ART during the 2011 season. At the moment, is already considered the rookie most likely.
After testing at Silverstone, GP2 has a break of less than two weeks, to try, on 19 and 20 April, at the Circuit de Catalunya. Therefore, Montmelo will be stage again in the last days of the season, after being in that situation with the formula one.

Romain Grosjean has been the fastest in testing at Silverstone GP2

Yesterday began testing GP2 in the Silverstone Circuit, where Romain Grosjean got the fastest time, strengthening his bid to win the main title of the category, having already won the GP2 Asia Series 2011.
The second position was for Josef Kral, although it was more than half a second of the best time of the French pilot. The top 5 complete Fabio Leimer, Sam Bird and Jules Bianchi; some of those who will be fighting for victory during the next season.
As for Dani Clos, a sixteenth position knows little, above all because teammate Christian Vietoris was eight tenths faster than him and was 10 Bermuda later in the classification. But we must bear in mind that the pilot of Barcelona grows during the weekends.
This session saw Oliver Turvey test with the Carlin team, after Mikhail Aleshin suffered economic problems. In other words, the money that had to contribute has not come, and of time the team has sought to someone else to prove, as the Russian pilot tries to continue with the plan.

Test of the Circuit de Catalunya. Sebastian Vettel, the fastest on the first day of testing

Sebastian Vettel has been the fastest on the first day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya, defending his honor as champion of the world, in spite of having few laps during the day. The German pilot has needed only 37 laps to take more than a second to Fernando Alonso, second.

At a meeting especially complicated, for much of the morning we had a wet runway, and only after eating they have been the best times. During the morning, Fernando Alonso was the fastest pilot, and has dedicated the evening to longer rounds to adapt to the Pirelli. To be able to vote this post you must login or register here.

Jaime Alguersuari has achieved the third fastest time, ahead of Kamui Kobayashi with the Sauber. Both have caused red flags, the first by a track output and the second stay without gasoline on a routine operation to calculate consumption of the car.

Jenson Button has been fifth, ahead of Paul di Resta, despite not having out to track until the afternoon, has made a pretty good time. Two Britons have been just ahead of Michael Schumacher, who has made a career, mock stops including pit.

Rubens Barrichello has had a complicated day with problems in his Williams have also caused a red flag in addition to losing much of the day for prevention of engine change. Behind him riders Hispania, Lotus and Virgin with the Lotus Renault GP in the queue.

Lotus Renault GP times may surprise, but due to problems they have had with the KERS in the car, which has left Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov with very few laps to mark a record in conditions and have had to comply with the two last positions.

Tomorrow we will have more opportunities to analyse the preseason, that could follow later still at Montmelo. The protagonists are basically the same, although see Nico Rosberg than Michael Schumacher at Mercedes, Timo Glock with Virgin and Vitantonio Liuzzi debut with Hispania Racing F1 Team.

Jerez testing: Felipe Massa fastest track

One of the preseason 2011 F1 test. Great title and great desire we have on this boot soon. Felipe Massa is the first putting the head of the classification in these tests, and although never mean anything, as always: be first is good for morale.

But not only that, that time has managed are interesting because reached this 1: 20.709 in the seventh round of a "long" stint. That is good for having achieved a certain load of fuel and tyres are not qualifying, but rolling. Hence interesting to me.

Sergio Perez, with Sauber Ferrari second classified with a best time of 1: 21. 483, which however has its trick. Achieved in the first round of a stint of 8 (the stint base that has been used Sauber, never more than 8 turns followed), and then times have simply sunk. Pass 1: 21 in the first round to a tone of 1: 25 or 1: 27 is meaning time sink.

Completely unlike Mark Webber, with its 1: 21.522 (of first round in 6 stint) placed third but repeat feature of 2010: pace high and constant in almost all his stint and two stint long (over 12 laps) at constant rate of 1: 23 attest that RedBull remains as we are accustomed, with much merit.

Also be seen shooting McLaren MP4-26 Finally, and reading is there today to see where is the car. A best time of Hamilton touching 1: 22 (1: 21. 914) places it now fifth, and rhythm in medios-largos sitints is around 1: 23-1: 24. Time will have to shoot more. Incidentally qu eme forgot Ricciardo, made with Toro Rosso rhythms of 1: 23 for stints of average length. His best round 1:21.7 is really good.

Less fortunate or less rate to Force India, Lotus Renault, Mercedes GP and Williams-Cosworth Lotus and Virgin (almost logically) on a first day of tests interesting and also expected. Tomorrow, more.

McLaren is testing its leakage 'forward' in Jerez

McLaren was challenging an escape forward style Renault in recently submitted MP4-26 in Jerez on Thursday.

The car was presented by Lewis Hamilton in the Spanish circuit and differs substantially from the version presented in Berlin by Auto Motor und Sport.

There has been speculation that McLaren 2011 was presented in Jerez with a unique exhaust design this season when Renault presented the innovative Renault R31 with best time in Valencia last week.

The correspondent of Auto Motor und Sport in Jerez de la Frontera, said that the rear escape from McLaren had mysteriously disappeared when Hamilton left the pit in Jerez on Thursday morning.

However, exhaust are dating only novelty discovered by journalists when the mechanics had to pause once in front of the docks.

"Just as with the Renault detail is very difficult to photograph", confirmed the German report.

Dani Sordo started the Mini Countryman WRC testing

It seems that Prodrive had envy of Citroen and Ford and have begun with the evidence on Earth the same week that the 2011 WRC season will begin with the Sweden Rally. Mini moved to the area of Malaga with Dani Sordo and Carlos del Barrio to begin testing of Countryman WRC on Earth.

With the new update of the engine developed by BMW, the Cantabrian conducted a number of passes that above all made a follow-up to the settings of the suspensions. Today deaf also continue in Malaga, while to Kris Meeke moves Thursday Almeria to continue the test. To be able to vote this post you must login or register here.

However and watching videos we see a clear evolution of the car with the latest images we saw at the end of last year. Pilots have highlighted in these new cars that are much more agile where you can go in-depth in areas that the old 2.0 WRC had to be "hollow out".

We have new developments in engine, which is noted. If we continue in this vein, we reach a good level. We have tested a new spoiler but at the end he has returned to the old because the car badly supported fast cornering. But where most are working is in suspension. They want us to go hard and I prefer softer to gain traction. There is time until the first rally and work is noticing.

Michael Herck, the fastest on the penultimate day of the GP2 Asia Series preseason testing

Michael Herck has been the fastest on the penultimate day of the GP2 Asia Series preseason testing, which will begin next week. The Romanian pilot running this year with Coloni continues showing its great improvement in recent years, which has taken him tail group to make some good races.

For these tests, the GP2 has used a variant of the circuit that 4730 meters instead of 5555 circuit used by formula one at the last Grand Prix both 2009 and 2010. This route will be also used for the careers of the GP2 Asia Series next weekend. To be able to vote this post you must login or register here.

Surprised the second best time, the work of Davide Valsecchi, followed by Marcus Ericsson and Jules Bianchi. After the pilot of ART, Dani Clos, fifth, is catching the rhythm to the new GP2/11 and is closer to the head. Rodolfo Gonzalez was also surprised, with interesting sixth place.

For newbies, I know they interest you enough, I bring you good news for our friends from the other side of the Atlantic, and it is that Esteban Gutierrez has been the best rookie in today, less than half a second of the best time of Herck. It is certainly not anything wrong.

Tomorrow GP2 offseason will arrive at its conclusion, and Thursday will begin the first training free GP2 Asia series in the same circuit in Abu Dhabi. As it was the case in the European season in GP2, will continue to Asia from close to mini-temporada.
