Robert Huff and Gabriele Tarquini take victories at Zolder

Second meeting of the WTCC in Zolder and second weekend in which the Chevrolet Cruze with the new engine 1.6 Turbo have been as the reference of the Championship and clear candidates for the title. In Belgium, the RML team returned to gain the pole in the hands of Robert Huff. English seems more toned than ever before and after four races he has proved to be the strongest candidate for the title.
Huff made good the pole on Saturday for the victory in the first race without too much opposition. And that although after the initial domain advantage disappeared after the departure of the safety-car. His fellow team, Alain Menu and the champion Yvan Muller completed the podium showing that Chevrolet has no rival. Gabriele Tarquini, Tiago Monteiro, Kritian Poulsen, Norbert Michelisz, Javi Villa and Darryl O'Young completed the positions eligible for points. Great result obtained by Villa in his third race at the wheel of a BMW 320 TC.

In the second race, with the top ten on the grid of the first career invested, Gabriele Tarquini was returning to take advantage of the first position to achieve the first victory non-Chevrolet of the season. SunRed Italian has been able to withstand attacks from Muller, Huff and Menu. French said goodbye to their options to break the radiator while Huff out of track to try to overcome to Tarquini. In the end, Alain Menu was done with the second position while another SEAT, that of Tiago Monteiro, completed the podium.
Darryl O'Young, Michel Nykjaer, Robert Huff, Robert Dahlgren, Norbert Michelisz, Aleksei Dudukalo and again Javi Villa completed the points. For its part, weekend bittersweet for Pepe Oriola. If in the first race he finished eleventh, in the second he finished two laps after suffering problems in his direction.
In general, Robert Huff is the leader with a point of advantage over Alain Menu. Gabriele Tarquini and Yvan Muller are more dependent, 19 and 22 points respectively of the British. In the independents trophy, Kristian Poulsen is the leader with three points of advantage on Javi Villa. Michel Nykjaer is the third tied with the Asturian.
In Monza, the SEAT Leon could already count on new engines 1.6 Turbo, but it would only be available for the first swords Tarquini and Monteiro. This is perhaps the last chance that someone could call into question the supremacy of the Chevrolet.
