The budgets of the formula is halved compared to 2009

The latest edition of the book Business Book GP indicates that the means of the formula one teams budgets have been halved compared with 2009. In this 2011 Ferrari is the team that more can be spent, with 199 million euros at its disposal. On the contrary, Hispania F1 Racing Team has to settle for € 34 million.
In 2009 the average of the teams budget was 209 million euros, turnover dropped to 119 million euros in 2010 and to 113 million euros this 2011. A few numbers that show the good make of the FOTA in pursuit of the budget reductions that agreed makes a couple of years.
Analyzing the numbers nor should ignore the fact that two major as BMW and Toyota left the competition. At the same time joined together three teams low cost, such as Hispania, Team Lotus and Virgin. It should not be forgotten that the first two had quite a few resources, and even Toyota had a reputation of being the team with the largest budget of the great circus.
Other measures contributing to rationalize spending are the limitation of the test, use of wind tunnels, and until the equipment staff hours. In 2010 the average was 350 people per team when this 2011 the figure stood at 315. In total, 420 people who have had to seek life elsewhere.
Currently big teams such as Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, Renault now spent less than a few years ago. In these cases it is thought that the sponsors can be up to 50% of the total budget. Sauber, Red Bull and Toro Rosso, on the contrary, this season have a higher starting cost than other years.
Despite this picture of budgetary restraint, Martin Whitmarsh, current leader of the FOTA, indicates that the Association of equipment wants to further enhance this cost savings.
