The boy wonder Sebastian Vettel not won the prestigious Laureus for becoming youngest F1 champion.
The 23-year-old German was nominated for Sportswoman of the year award, but was Spanish number 1 tennis, Rafael Nadal, who won the trophy on the night of Monday at the gala in Abu Dhabi.
And the Spain national football team also exceeded Vettel on the nomination of teams, beating out Red Bull.
On behalf of top-level racing world, however, Valentino Rossi was awarded a prize.
Last year, the Italian returned in 41 days after suffering a broken leg where the bone was uncovered.
