Massa tops first day of test in Jerez

Ferrari returned to show the strength of the newly re christened F150th Italy after scoring the best time of the first day of Rallye with Felipe Massa in Jerez de la Frontera.


Meanwhile, a surprising Sergio Perez was the second fastest day at Sauber C30.  Felipe Massa spent the greater part of the evening was the fastest coming to be more than half a second of his nearest rival, completing a program with 101 laps over the course of the day.


The third place in the time table accounted for Red Bull Mark Webber, pilot at the wheel of the kb7 was ahead of his countryman Daniel Ricciardo at Toro Rosso STR6 wheel.


In the afternoon, Ricciardo was replaced by Jaime Alguersuari, which ended with the sixth fastest time, but almost a second of his young teammate.


The expectation was focused in the early laps of Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren MP4-26 who premiered a new system of exhaust forward type to Renault R31. The British finished fifth with the new MP4-26, more than a second of Massa.


There were rumors that 2011 McLaren was different from the one presented in Berlin, and confirmed, exhaust seen in the presentation in Germany wasn't that saw in Jerez today.


The seventh fastest time was in charge of Adrian Sutil in VJM04 Force India, another new car 2011 ran in Jerez. After Force India, Vitaly Petrov Renault with Nico Rosberg at Mercedes GP in ninth position.


Jarno Trulli (Lotus) was tenth, Timo Glock (Virgin Racing), eleventh and Pastor Maldonado (Williams) the slowest of all, only making 13 laps cronometradas during the day.
