Adrian Newey: "our KERS is in its infancy"

In the Grand Prize of Malaysia both Red Bull had problems with the KERS. In the case of Mark Webber, since the beginning of the test; you could even use it when the lights went out. Sebastian Vettel, meanwhile, met with them mediated the race, in the middle of the paseito returned in Sepang.
The flaws in this system is the only weakness of the untouchable Red Bull kb7. None of the two pilots of the team could enjoy the KERS during the whole of the Grand Prize. The technical director of Red Bull, Adrian Newey, realizes that his KERS has yet to improve.
The reality is that the system is in its infancy. We are not a manufacturer, so we need to develop the KERS ourselves, and it is not an area where we have specialized in the past. We are also doing so with limited resources, a limited budget and limited experience; We are still learning. The fact that we are still finding failures is that the system has yet to be improved.
The English engineer also clarified what happened to Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel in Sepang:
With Mark had a problem before the start that meant that he could not use it during the race, including the boot. He had a problem in the round of training, a new problem that we had not had before. With Sebastian had a problem that allowed us to continue using it, but for safety we think that it was better to turn it off and not to take risks.
By how the two Grands Prix have been developed in which far this season, the team not has missed much the KERS. It would perhaps to Webber not he have been wrong to improve their output, which are penalized by not being able to use it and that his rivals could do. Quite different is the case of Vettel, who he has hardly affected. A situation that could change if you have a meeting with a rival; the KERS, there may be a factor to be taken into account.
