Despite reaching formula one with all the honours after winning the title of the GP2, so far we have not seen anything of Pastor Maldonado. Many, myself included, were very critical with the Venezuelan. Maldonado and the millions of PDVSA had been sent to the "unemployment" to Nico Hulkenberg (the only one who has given a joy to Williams F1 in recent years with the Grand Prize of Brazil pole) and now had to prove, and send silencethat the million is part of the way.
But in the first four Grands Prix of the year Pastor Maldonado did not demonstrate anything. His accident during the free sessions began to be commonplace (was going to spend the sponsorship in spare parts) and four classifications, the placed fourteenth in the Grand Prize of Turkey was his best result. In career, things were not improving. Two drop-outs, an eighteenth and a seventeenth place. Again, nothing to a team that aspires to hold the sixth place in the constructors standings.
First and foremost must be downloaded from blame to Maldonado. The Williams FW33 is far from being a single-seat competitive and that is something that are suffering their pilots. And Rubens Barrichello, without a doubt number one on the team, had been able to logar a good result. An eleventh position at Istanbul Park is a little booty. Improvements, new Jet diffuser and new rear spoiler, seems to have worked. Pity that Rubens Barrichello had problems in the case of changes that have left you in a gray eighteenth position.
But today everything has changed. Pastor Maldonado has gotten in the Q3 in a "simple" way, without having to rush up to the last second and due to the problems of Michael Schumacher, of Williams F1 Venezuelan has scratched a ninth position in the Grove team must know to glory. We must not forget that the classification of today has been one of the tactics that we remember and behind there are many drivers who have been saved bullets, in the form of new games of tyres for the race tomorrow. Even so, it is a first great result for both Williams to Maldonado. Tomorrow, we dream of more.
