Grand Prix of Spain F1 2011: Nick Heidfeld teaches alternative tactics

The fire that left seriously damaged the R31 Renault's Nick Heidfeld during the third session of free practice in the morning of Saturday, prevented the German pilot to come to court and therefore could not aspire rather to the last position on the grid.
In the past, leaving from as far back on the grid, it amounted to seek a tactical risky (usually less stops) and try to expect that a safety-car will help you to reach the positions of points. In the Chinese Grand Prix, Mark Webber showed us a small sample of what could be coming out from behind, and with the same tactics than its rivals. The podium of Webber was a magnificent result.
During the Grand Prize of Spain, tactics with tires reached higher levels. Red Bull renouncing a last attempt is so logical, but see how Paul Di Resta renounced make even an attempt during the Q2 in order to maintain two sets of intact soft compounds. But If someone was able to play more than anyone the tactic of save tires was Nick Heidfeld. To be on track for qualification, allowed the German to compete with new games all stints, four of the race.
Two sets of soft tyres and two sets of completely new hard tires allowed that Heidfeld and the Lotus Renault R31, reaching the eighth position. Things like these make us think that simply with a good rhythm and renouncing the Q2, it is possible to get a good starting position to think about a comeback. Perhaps this is not the way to achieve victories, Barrichello was with five sets of new tires (three soft and two hard) and finished in a more than modest seventeenth position, but if you can do to think some face to score pointsIt is possible.
