Charlie Whiting has met with drivers and teams, during this great prize of Turkey, and in the end the FIA has decided to allow the use of the DRS at the main straight of Monaco, for the Grand Prix to be held in just three weeks, the following week of the Grand Prize of Spain.
Although more than one driver showed his disagreement with the idea of using the DRS in Monaco, in the end the decision is which is, and will have to comply, in spite of what Mark Webber argued at the meeting. Of made, the Australian was one of the more vocal against the DRS in Monaco, but his arguments were rejected.
Nevertheless, the decision, which was sent by letter to the twelve teams in the Championship, is to use the DRS in the line of goal, and not in the line of the tunnel, as many suspected that it would be. At least, should recognize that it makes sense. The stretch of the tunnel would be very dangerous to use the DRS; in goal, not so much.
In any case, I believe that it is a mistake to allow the use of the DRS in a piece of straight, and although in the end did not happen anything, the risk is great, and seems to accept this risk in exchange for a few overtaking not worth it.
